Arkansas’ 20-17 win against East Carolina in the Liberty Bowl drew a 4.4 rating for ESPN, and more than 10.5 million viewers watched the fourth quarter and overtime, according to Liberty Bowl officials.
The fourth-quarter and overtime numbers are huge for the Liberty Bowl and, of course, Arkansas’ publicity on the national scene. The fourth quarter and overtime which drew 10.5 million viewers was the highest rated segment of any bowl game on ESPN, according to Liberty Bowl officials.
The highest rated segment of the Liberty Bowl delivered more viewers than any other segment of a bowl game on ESPN during the 2009-10 bowl season.
“The tremendous television ratings for the 51st AutoZone Liberty Bowl are a testament to the strong national brand of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl and the compelling action on the field that Arkansas and East Carolina provided,” said Steve Ehrhart, executive director of the Liberty Bowl.
