Updating the baseball rankings, calling the Hogs in California

March 8, 2010 |  by Brandon Marcello

Arkansas was impressive — well, save for that 6-0 blanking Sunday — last week in their 15-3 stomping of Kansas at home and series-winning trip to California over the weekend.

The 3-1 week has moved Arkansas up to No. 14 in the Baseball America rankings. The Razorbacks were 17th last week. They also moved up to 14th in Rivals.com’s poll, where they were ranked 15th last week.

The Hogs, once winners of seven straight (the longest streak since 2006), are now 8-2 and have a busy week schedule at Baum Stadium. A five-game homestand starts Tuesday barring bad weather.

Arkansas opens a two-game series against South Dakota State on Tuesday. The Tuesday and Wednesday pitches are set for 3:05 p.m. Wisconsin-Milwaukee comes to Baum Stadium for a three-game series this weekend, with the first pitch set for 3:05 p.m. on Friday.

As for this last weekend, an Arkansas expat at, fittingly, ArkansasExpats.com, has a recap of his experience during the Cal series you can check out. Included in the post are some pictures taken during the Cal series and this video of some Arkansas fans calling the Hogs in Berkeley, Calif.

Impressive showing, Hog fans.

See you at Baum Stadium this week.
