In my opinion, Fayetteville is a beautiful town, one which has everything you want from a big city when it comes to entertainment but without the horrendous traffic jams and crime rate.
Apparently this, along with other amenities, has led Forbes to list the city in its top 10 college towns. Fayetteville comes in at No. 7 on the list which began in earnest with the 2009 Director’s Cup standings. Then several other factors were introduced, including median household income, home prices, and the quality of the school system and life.
As a result, the Home of the Razorbacks slides in at No. 7 on Forbes’ list of best college towns to live in. Here’s more:
Fayetteville is a perennial member of “best of” lists. Hog Town is laced with lakes and hiking trails, hosts a great farmer’s market and has a solid public school system.
In February, ESPN’s Pat Forde polled a few colleagues and listed Fayetteville as one of the worst college towns in the SEC. Technically it was in the “also receiving votes” category, but you get the point.
So who’s right? I get the feeling most of you in the Slophouse will side with Forbes’ ranking.
