Arkansas spring depth chart released

March 17, 2010 |  by Brandon Marcello  |

Arkansas is set to begin spring drills March 30, and Coach Bobby Petrino released his depth chart for spring drills today.

A couple of notables before we show Arkansas’ depth chart:

— De’Anthony Curtis is now a wide receiver, listed behind Joe Adams and Carlton Salters at one spot. Curtis worked at flyback last season at times and also got a look at cornerback during bowl practices.

Ronnie Wingo is the starting running back heading into the spring, ahead of such veterans like Dennis Johnson.

Isaac Madison is back from an ACL injury he suffered last pre-season, but will have to work his way back up the depth chart. Petrino will meet with doctors Monday to gauge just how much work Madison can do during the spring.

Dylan Breeding is now the starting punter after Briton Forrester left the team late last season.

I’ll have more from today’s hour-long press conference with Petrino and players in a bit. For now, here’s the depth chart, courtesy the Arkansas media relations department and ArkansasRazorbacks.com.

  1. A little surprising Freddy Burton and Elton Ford aren’t starters.

  2. Any thoughts on David Gordon missing from the depth chart?

  3. JT,

David Gordon has an injured shoulder and will not participate in full contact this spring, Bobby Petrino says.

  4. There were other injured Hogs (Mallett and Tank Wright) who will miss the spring who were still listed as starters at their spots. Hopefully this is just an oversight or motivational ploy in Flash’s case.

  5. I’m going to be keeping a close eye on Tramain Thomas, Isaac Madison, Darius Winston and Anthony Leon in the secondary this spring.

Leon, even though he’s a big hitter, has something to prove this spring after struggling last season.

  6. Glad to see Darius Winston on there.

  7. I don’t remember one big hit from Leon last season. This isn’t JC.

But,yes, he hopefully feels like he has something to prove. He should.

  8. someone can correct me if I’m wrong but the injured players listed on the depth charter were starters at the end of last season. Gordon was not. I think that’s the explanation.

  9. I can’t believe the growth of a guy like Jerry Mitchell since he’s arrived on campus….from 6′2″ to 6′7″!! Unbelievable!! Ha!
