Arkansas will open the NCAA Tournament by playing No. 4 seed Grambling in the Fayetteville Regional. The seeding in the regional is as follows: (1) Arkansas, (2) Washington State, (3) Kansas State and (4) Grambling.
Washington State and Kansas State will play against each other in the 2-3 matchup.
The winner of this regional will play the winner of the Tempe, Ariz., Regional that includes (1) Arizona State, San Diego, Hawaii and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
UPDATE (Noon): It’s a heck of a draw for Arkansas. Grambling is 22-30 and had to win the SWAC Tournament to make it to the NCAA postseason. Meanwhile, Washington State is on a roll. Washington State (34-20) has won 12 of last 15 games and took 2 of 3 from the nation’s top seed, Arizona State, earlier in season.
By the way, eight SEC teams made the NCAA Tournament.
More, including reaction from players, is coming here on the blog. I’m headed to interviews here at Baum Stadium.
