A radio host with Hog Sports Radio was apparently fired Monday after she donned a Florida Gators hat at an Arkansas press conference over the weekend.

A screenshot of Renee Gork's Twitter feed.
Renee Gork, who began working at the station in July, was called out Saturday by Coach Bobby Petrino after answering a question posed by the radio personality.
Asked to evaluate the scrimmage, Petrino gave Gork a routine answer but added a caveat: “And that will be the last question I answer with that hat on.” Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett asked Gork to take the hat off before an interview Saturday, but chuckled and told the radio personality that he was joking.

The exchange between Petrino and Gork was viewed by many Arkansas fans online, prompting heated discussions concerning Gork’s fashion choice. Some fans called for Gork’s job, while others were simply not happy with her choice of school colors. Fans also scoured the Internet for more information about Gork and discovered her Facebook page, which revealed that she was a graduate of the University of Florida.
Less than two hours before she was scheduled to take the airwaves Monday, Gork tweeted that she had been fired.
“Was hoping to publicly apologize to coach Petrino and UA fans on the show today, but I won’t get that chance now … I’ve been fired.”
Gork said she wrote a letter of apology addressed to Petrino.
“I am truly sorry for disrespecting him and his team,” she tweeted.
The station’s general manager, Dan Storrs, appeared on “The Pro Knows” with former Razorbacks receiver Mike Reppond today. Storrs briefly addressed the incident at the beginning of the show. He offered an apology to the station’s listeners and said the Hog Sports Radio was “pro-Razorback.”

I love my hogs and I think it was disrespectful for Ms. Gork to show to a Razorback press conference wearing anything from any Conference opponent. That being said, it sounds like a knee jerk reaction to me.
Not the smartest move for someone working at a “school specific” station. A little harsh? Maybe so. Still, my wife doesn’t leave the house without changing at least twice, and when she decides to wear a hat – well that wardrobe decision is even more scrutinized…So it’s hard for me to believe that it wasn’t somewhat premeditated.
Yes, she did poke a “thumb” in CBP and the team’s eye but the firing was an over-reaction. CBP told Renee the consequences of wearing the hat “no more questions from you”! And if she doesn’t change her hat next time she gets no story and then gets fired for NOT getting the story…..but for wearing a Gator hat. Dumb choice on her part but not a firing offense. And she was going to do a public apology.
I for one don’t mind a little “in your face” gear – hats, t-shirts, car decals, etc. – remember I live down here in Austin and love to “tease” those longhorns as much as possible.
I know better than to come to work wearing the logo of a different company. If I did, I would also expect to be fired. What reaction did she hope to achieve?
You people in Arkansas are retarded. This is the most pathetic excuse to fire someone I have ever heard.
She didn’t taunt the coach or the school. She just wore the hat. Big deal. As long as she is impartial in her reporting than this is a total non-issue.
Petrino is a total dick. Would he get mad if she wore a Louisville hat too? That snake got an honest reporter fired.
It doesn’t matter where she went to school either. Just because people born in your third-world state never leave, doesn’t mean people with teeth from other states should be jettisoned for not supporting your gypsy dick coach.
Jim,
You are an imbecile.
Joe,
As provoking as your comment is, you are correct.
I am as big a Hog Fan as there is, but if she lost her job over wearing a Gator Hat, that makes us all look like the BIGGEST RED NECKS JERKS in the country. Please give her job back to her and lets show some class.
Jim, If Arkansas is such a horrible place and the people are so bad, why are you on an ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS sports site associating yourself with such a dispicable group of people? And, Bobby Petrino might be a dick, but he didn’t fire the reporter and as far as I know he didn’t request for her to fired.
She probably wore the hat for the same reason you’re on this site, to get some attention… Looks like it worked in both cases.
I think some of you are missing the point. In less than a month on the job; what she did was incredibly bad judgement. There may be more under the hood with her personality and the next incident could be even more disatrous for her employer. Florida is the school that somehow always get the breaks over Arkansas. They have been more of pain than LSU \ Alabama combined. Besides, you mean to tell me there is a shortage of U of A graduates with Communications backgrounds qualified for the job? We got other great University in the State and Hogs Spoerts Radio deserves a dedicated Hog Homer Radio Personality be commuincating to Hog Fans. What would Ole Miss fans say if Coach Houston Nutt showed up for press conference with Razorback hat on. I hate I missed it, I would have loved to see CBP in this action, He sounds fired up already
I would’ve liked to hear Ratrino’s reaction if she had worn a Falcons cap.
Backlash from the message boarders who might make up 5% of Hog fans is enough to get her fired? Does the station manager have a spine at all?
Did anybody ask Petrino today if her firing was justified? He started this mess with his public comment, he should be asked about it.
And she was with something called Hogs Sports Radio? I say she got what she deserved. As if wearing any SEC hat other than a Hog cap wouldn’t be a real good reason to fire her, for the first time in SEC history, an entire officiating team was suspended by the league office as the result of their stinking calls in the Hog/Gator game last year. Hey Jim, there’s a website for you over at the Arkansas Times–those fuzzy brains are always on the wrong side and think they’re right.
Brandon,
Wasn’t there some networking about how much of a chore it was to report on the Razorbacks and that she did’nt like having to go to the scrimmage to cover the hogs, although if it were her Gators she’d have really enjoyed it. Maybe her employers decided if she did’nt like the job she should work somewhere else. You report as though it was a reaction only to the hat…I think that is media spinning to your desired conclusion. BTW.. I personally didn’t care one way or the other.
America – The Land of the Free!
Haha, you Arkansas fans have such an inferiority complex. I guess I can’t blame you, but still. It’s cute. Keep believing, guys. This is your year. Right up till Bama rolls into town.
…that people DON’T get this. I’ve never been prouder of a Razorback coach. He said, to restate it, that he would be happy to answer questions from her once she took the hat off. She thought it was funny, and evidently left it on.
She whines about the job of reporting on University of Arkansas sports, for which she was hired, while deliberately giving the fan base and her employer’s key demographic the finger.
If this is the product of Florida higher education, I have no problem at all representing Arkansas. Some of the Gator mouth-breathers that are commenting here really need to get back to watching their own coach tell off reporters.
BP’s comment, in my opinion, was innocuous and seemingly made in jest. Although the hat “selection” was in poor taste, it did not constitute grounds for terminating her employment. Where there’s smoke, is usually fire. I have to believe there may be more to this story than meets the [public] eye.
Mick is the only one here that gets it. As ill-conceived and disrespectful as wearing the hat was, if that was ALL that had happened, it’s very unlikely she would have been fired. But her Twitter account and Facebook wall (which was public until a few hours after this incident happened) were chock full of the type of comments Mick alluded to – namely, that her job was a chore and she would have much rather been covering the Gators.
Now, that’s fine and dandy to think to yourself. There’s plenty of people covering the Hogs that aren’t UofA alums or Hog fans. I’m sure there’s more than one reporter out there whose “dream job” would be covering another team. But NONE of them have been dense enough, and un-professional enough, to make that public. They all do their jobs, without purposefully inciting the head football coach, and (for the most part anyway) conduct themselves as professionals. Ms. Gork’s actions and PUBLIC comments made on-line made it clear she was not a professional, and had no clue how to perform as one.
I sometimes question the writer’s motives when headlines change throughout the day to generate more hits. What do you bet this ends up on C. Low’s “Lunchtime links” tomorrow…
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the updates.
Those who think it is an overreaction are clueless about business. Do you think a Coke driver wouldn’t be fired for wearing a Pepsi hat? Or a Budweiser employee for wearing a Miller hat? You bet they would, and should be. This isn’t some liberal, PC world when you don’t work for the government, or some grant-receiving organization. It shows you have zero judgement, and no respect for your position. 10% of workers are out of a job, give it to someone deserving of one. The person who hired her should be looked into next.
The firing is a bit much if it was simply for wearing the hat. A simple reprimand and a strong recommendation not to wear any conference opponent gear would suffice. She doesn’t have to wear Razorback gear or even like the Razorbacks, but she should have had more sense than that. Be a professional, do your job, and use some common sense. Oh, and Petrino has nothing to do with who’s hired and fired and he seemed to be joking. I guess she wants to work at Florida where the coaches yell at the media for accurately quoting a player.
JimBob, I think it’s “cute” that you come in here with your condescending smirk comment and expect a reaction. Grow up. We are all fans who want our teams to win; you shouldn’t hold that against people. Go troll some other team’s website.
In other news…Arkansas still sucks.
Gee, Jim, tell use how you REALLY feel. I see your education has taught you lots about hasty over-generalizations and the importance of making sure you know your facts before running off your mouth. If your attacks are indicative of an intelligent and enlightened person, then I am happy to be from Arkansas. You have managed to slander three different groups of people in a short, two-paragraph post. Stay classy, Jim.
In other news, internet trolls are still insecure morons.
For all of the trolls to the site that wishes to disrepect those from Arkansas and the right of Arkansas fans on a Whole Hog Sports site to call in question the character of radio personality WHO IS CLEARLY NOT a WHOLE HOG SPORTS Reporter, I have one educated word for you “ENVY”
As the presumption is that you Trolls were not educated in Arkansas let me help you out with what meaning just in case.
Envy (also called invidiousness) is best defined as an emotion that occurs when a person lacks another’s perceived superior intellect, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it.
Envy is one of the most potent causes of unhappiness (Thus Trolls are born). It is a universal and most unfortunate aspect of human nature because not only is the envious person rendered unhappy by his envy, but also wishes to inflict misfortune on others.
If they wish to create a HALF HOG SPORTS site; then opinions that are less tahn 100% could be tolerated. But on this thread, let the record show that Arkansas Hog Sports Radio got it right. Can you imagine her actually calling a Razorback game and at some bitter end of game she may actually be rooting for the other team? She showed her true colors and they were not Razorback Red.
Next Story…
Wow…talk about your basic inferiority complex. Bobby…stay in one place for a while before you call out someone who spent at least enough time in one place to get a degree.
The same man who wore a Falcons hat and Razorback hat on the same day.
Typical Petrino. You people in Fayetteville can keep him. Better make sure that he’s still there BTW.
Hey TexasHog, yeah we’re real “invidious” of your vagabond coach and mediocre football. But I do like a girl in an Orange & Blue lid.
For all of you Gator fans ragging on Petrino, remember that he didn’t fire this lady; he simply refused to answer more of her questions while she was wearing the hat. This isn’t even close to Urban Meyer ranting and threatening a reporter who dared to correctly quote one of his players.
She was not working for the university athletic department, and thus wouldn’t be held to the standard code of dress (athletic departments typically ban any branded colege sports logos other than their own).
Although Coach Petrino didn’t do anything wrong, he didn’t need to make an example out of her either. In doing so, he cost the reporter her job.
Coach Petrino should help her get her job back. That would be the RIGHT thing to do.
Jeremy,
She worked for (Hog Sports Radio). I wouldn’t say a Gator cap is exactly the proper attire for that job either. Not to mention her comments about being dissatisfied with her job covering the hogs instead of the gators on her facebook page.
Jeremy, I respect your opinion and my kneejerk reaction is to agree, but did you watch the video of the incident? Anyone who bothers to follow the Razorbacks on a consistent basis knows that Petrino has a dry sense of humor. His comments to her were part of that. He did not cost her anything. He didn’t rail about it and he is not in charge of hiring and firing personnel at an independent media site. As many astute posters have pointed out, this small might incident might have been the tip of an iceberg, and she has certainly done a fantastic job of playing the innocent victim on Twitter.
Again, what Urban Meyer did was 100 times worse than this incident that has been blown out of proportion concerning Petrino’s role in the matter. But I guess he was still having indigestion at that time, so it’s excusable.
And to all the haters who have decided to troll this site just hate the man. To all you guys I saygGet a life and let it go. I assure you that your hatred of Bobby Petrino eats at YOUR insides far more than it does his. Particularly Falcons fans, I don’t get you guys. Your new coach is good and led you to the friggin playoffs in ’08, probably about the third or fourth time your sorry franchise has been worth spit. You’d think you would be grateful he left. Concerning his job here: he may leave, he may stay for another three years, who knows? I don’t spend too much time worrying about it. You probably shouldn’t either. Again, find some other website to troll instead of using the anonymity of the internet to talk trash so you can act like a big boy while living out your pathetic passive-agressive existence. Quit trying to act like Jim Rome or some other radio personality.
I don’t like to see people get fired, but she made a gross misjudgement when she wore that hat; particularly while working. It could only be construed as inflammatory to any Razorback fan, and especially the head coach.
She used poor judgement. Maybe in the future she should wear a “sports hat for dummies” or no hat at all. I don’t care if she gets her job back, but I certainly hope no one gives her any apologies, because whe doesn’t deserve any.
The reporter shouldn’t have worn the UF hat to an Arkansas event, just like the guy in Cleveland shouldn’t have worn a LeBron/Miami Heat jersey to an Indians game. All UF journalism grads should know that. I do.
The real story is that Alabama will crush Arkansas on September 25, which means the Razorbacks won’t get the opportunity to lose to Florida in the SEC Championship game this season.
But enjoy the media attention while it lasts. I’m sure things will pick up in Fayettville real soon.
For all of the Petrino haters…and supporters for that matter. Follow this link if you want to be informed about Petrino and how he was hired by the Razorbacks.
.
For those of you that think this woman should not have been fired then I ask you to read this…these are her words from her facebook status.
“really wishes I didn’t have to get ready and work this early on a Saturday..even if it is media day for the Razorbacks..if it was Florida that would be a totally different story. JK!!”
More Facebook: is thinking how wrong my current status is…I’m sitting here in a Gator shirt, drinking lemonade out of a Gator glass, looking at the big Gator on my diploma yet am researching and reading stuff about the Razorbacks….this new job really is a job!!!:)”
…
This woman wanted to be fired. Now that SI has written an article about her I’m sure someone in Florida will give her a chance to cover her precious gators.
Sorry..here is the Petrino link
.

As an Atlanta Falcons fan, I can attest to the fact that, yes, Petrino IS the very definition of “asshole”.
JERMEY, JERMEY, JERMEY, lets see if you can wrap your feeble little mind around this one……. She knew what she was doing. It was thought out before she left to a conference she didn’t want to attned in the first place. Premeditated? YES. Wanting to be fired? probably not. Should be fired? no way. I’m sure it will work out in her favor in the end.
As for coach Petrino. His job is to coach his student atheletes, not petition for people jobs. He made a loyal stance for his team, which makes me proud. His honor lies within his Football team. Did he get her fired? come on, really….WAKE UP Jermey!! he had nothing to do with her firing. That belongs to the Radio show. They are guilty as charged.
I am making an example out of you, my friend. Think before you try to speak analytically and take emotion out of it. Your outcome will far benifit you and your silly accusation’s. Your acting like an child. GROW UP!!!
Oh, by the way things have been picking up just fine for about 3 years now, THANK YOU
As for Jim up near the top. Don’t impune a whole state over one radio station’s decision to fire somebody. What is said to Jermey goes for you too, GIRL. Learn from his mistake and don’t make a habbit of making an ASS out of yourself.
Some people do get out like myself and 3 of my friend from all different walks of life, formaly from Arkansas. We now reside in Seattle, but we are proud of our home state and the GOOD PEOPLE who live there and are loyal to their HOGS!!!
Bratty1,
Unfortunately, we don’t give a rat’s ass about the NFL’s worst franchise, nor its fan’s “attestation.”
Hey Skezell,
Keep it up bro, I like what your are rapping about. The internet trolls comment is classic. I can just see this little fat Red bearded man living in his moms basement with little Gators ornaments all around him….. just typing away with 1990 Florida reruns playing in his moms VCR. AWESOME!
I now see why people join “pay” sites for their news. Some of these haters/trolls are ridiculous…
to jim: she is lucky arkansas is only a third world state,in a third world contry she could have been shot. your your a dufas!! with that said i do think fireing was extreme.
Petrino is a scumbag, she should have done the Gator chomp in his face.
I’m from neither school and just stumbled upon this article. Seems to me there are a few people that need to get a grip. I think there are worse things to stew over than something like this.
The hat was the topper. Her open posts on facebook and twitter contributed to her demise. I worked for Microsoft a few years ago. Do you think I would have even considered wearing an Apple or Linux shirt or hat? No way in hell. Stupid people get fired every day for doing stupid stuff. This was a stupid move on her part.
There are a lot of blackbirds and gaytards on this site, Brandon. It’s almost hilarious to see some of the “logic” mixed with hate, mostly for Bobby Petrino.
As a displaced Arkansan, deep in the heart of Texas, I love my adopted State, as well as my home State, for many different reasons. Having lived all over and several years in Florida, I really cannot say the same about the so-called “sunshine” State – and again, for many different reasons. And by the way, does Atlanta really have a professional football team?
Bobby Petrino is a fabulous college football coach and Razorbacks are on the rise. Get used to it, haters.
Jeremy, what does the Alabama game have to do with this topic? Who on this site is booking a trip to Atlanta? And how should Arkansas fans respond to your chest thumping? Are we supposed to cower in the shadow of Bear Bryant? Hell, no. I hope we clobber the Tide when they come to Fayetteville. And should Alabama lose (and I’m not saying they WILL, but it IS possible), I hope you are honorable enough to come troll this site again and admit you were wrong. You, sir, are the worst troll of all, one who, when out of logical points to make on the topic at hand, resorts to the “my daddy can beat up your daddy” argument. And if Alabama loses, you will be nowhere to be found–smells like a frontrunner to me.
In other news: SEC officiating crew caught accepting payout from Urban Meyer for a 2009 win against the Arkansas Razorbacks. The note on the check stated “Thanks, we couldn’t have done it without you guys!”
If it was just wearing the cap, firing was to much. But it was more than that. She was using this for her little “gimmick” to draw attention to herself. She knew what she was doing, playing the big Gator fan in Razorback country. Got what she deserved in my opinion.
Arkansas is very petty about its precious little Hogs. I now have to live here and you can forget all other sports in any part of the country or world. . . nothing matters here except the ridiculous Razorbacks. That’s pretty much ALL that is reported upon. It’s a beautiful state and the people are generally very nice, it’s a great place to live. However, I just wish they could “grow up” a little and acknowledge that there IS indeed life outside of their little mediocre college football team.
This is against the LAW. What a crock of southern hospitality.
At least Arkansas remains the backwards state and school that it always has been.
Ben -
Nothing about what the radio station did is against the law. Arkansas is an at-will state. Basically they can fire whoever they feel like and for whatever reason that want – as long as it’s not race, religion or sex – and be perfectly within the bounds of the law.
So, before you come on here making some random and idiotic statement, I suggest doing a little research so you don’t come of as a complete moron.
Her facebook and twitter accounts (which have now been shut down) had tons of posts complaining about her job. Do you think you could go to your job and openly complain about being there and have a hope of retaining your position?
This hat issue has come to light only because she was fired. The media has spun the story so it seems thats the only reason, when it’s not.
Well said, Ken. The same would hold true in Texas, which is also an employment “at will” state.
And Ben, please, before you and the other blackbirds from Atlanta or gaytards from Gainesville [or rednecks from Alabama] start spinning your moronic webs, get a grip on the facts, man.
And again, does Atlanta really have a professional football team or a perpetual doormat for the NFL?
David, that is the same behavior that fans of other SEC schools display. No one seems to hold it against LSU fans and their reputation of verbally and sometimes physically assaulting fans who dare to wear opposing colors…in fact, many people celebrate it. So why is it wrong for Arkansas to unify around one team? Because we are mediocre, as you say? I think that is a positive attribute about the state of Arkansas; we are not frontrunners and we will support our team even if we don’t like the coach (most like our coach now) or the trends of the team. And while a very few are xenophobic as you claim, you will find much the same attitude among fan bases in other schools in other states. Furthermore, many fans know our place in college football and want to climb higher. So my question to you is: why do you hold it against us disproportionately? And what, pray tell, should the sports media be reporting on other than the Razorbacks?
This was a gimmick by her. Just heard a radio show talking to the radio gm. He said this was the last straw. She was not doing her job and that she knew it. This was a gimmick to get her 15 min of fame since she knew she was getting fired soon for not preforming her duties. I also believe with any job, sports or not, you should show some common since at what your job is promoting. I don’t think the local sports show wants someone that going to try and alienate the fan base in that area from their company by putting on a rivals hat. Than act like a dopey dope and say it was a hat that happens to be around and that they didn’t think twice with what they were doing at the time of the incident.
To Ken,
If she was not fired for the hat incident, as you suggest, then why don’t you fill the rest of us in on what the real reasons were? You use simple facts to break down another posters comments, and then suggest you have more facts about her firing yet you do not state what they are? Why is that?
Perennial losers…I wouldn’t expect anything less coming out of Arkansas.
…YourDaddy….really? You have to massage your ego and use that juvenile handle instead of your name?
I’ll overlook that and try to answer your question. How did I not give the other facts? The other reasons, as I stated, are the complaints she was making on her facebook and twitter accounts. I would happily give you link to those pages, but – as I also stated – they have been shut down.
She was openly criticizing her job at the radio station and frequently wished that she were covering UF sports instead. If you read back a little in the other comments, another poster also talks about this. Saying that she wished she didn’t have to get up for the conference, but that she would have been happy to get up to go to the UF press conference instead. These comments were before she got fired (yes… I know Brandon has a little screenshot of her apologizing).
You can also see thot’s comment. The gm also said that this proverbial straw that broke the camels back. No one, myself included, would be able to go to work and complain about being there without some sort of consequence.
The comment I refer to is on the first page, towards the end. The poster is RazorDoc44. I understand that it could be meant in jest. But when you work for a radio station that is biased towards a sports team, you don’t publicly joke about that. It would be like standing behind the cash register at Wal-mart and saying that you think you would be better off at Target.
You hillbillies gotta be kiddin’ me! Fired for wearing a friggin’ Gators baseball cap?
This is JUST football, and no matter what you think, it’s NOT life or death….
i have worked with OU fans, known florida and texas fans, have a good friend who is a die hard bama man, and i personally have been a lifelong hog fan. yes we have had more then our share of mediocre years in the SEC but one thing we can say is that no matter what we are loyal to our program does not matter if we finish first or dead last. the aforementioned fan bases, in general, lose more then just a passing interest in their teams after their first loss of the season. “oh man we lost theres goes any shot at a national title, cant wait for next year.” after 10 years of us listening to rah rah we will get em next game or next year from that ole miss coach we now have a coach who not just injected some pride in a once great program he has instilled a true sense of swagger and belief and if the cheaters in florida feel threatened by that well to bad and the whiners in crimelanta can keep their dogfights and crappy sports teams (all of them)to theirselves. and yes florida cheated us last year the entire english speaking sports world admitted that much so forgive us if we dont seem real warm and responsive to a member of the media wearing that hat in our neck of the SEC
hillbillies? You got to be kidding me! guess you never get the time to watch true tv. they have a series on their called worlds dumbest and the majority of the participants in those shows come from florida, alabama, georgia, and mississippi. what petrino did is recruiting genious and backs up what he said when he got here two years ago, “this is arkansas football and we don’t back down from nobody!” which is exactly what our program needed and now that we are climbing and threatening the established uper echelon of the SEC some people dont like it and feel the need to try and degrade us and our state with those lame a** hillbilly remarks.
Isn’t this the state where Bill Clinton was governor, the Duggers live and Wal-Mart is headquatered? Compared to those two things, I guess firing someone over a bad hat choice is small potatos. Get a grip!
“but one thing we can say is that no matter what we are loyal to our program does not matter if we finish first or dead last”
Ah yes – My College Sports Team, Right or Wrong, and “F” anyone who has the stupidity to suggest anything else. Attack the motives, the morals, the state and the alien state team – but never, never, never accept responsibility for your own actions. Hogs do anything to merit an apology? Perish the thought!!
Such an endearing quality…and I am more than glad I only have to read about these morons on rare occasions… Petrino is a toad.
Wow,
would it of been ok if she wore a Falcon’s cap?
She should have went capless!
petrino is a loser! this is the same guy who was wearing an atlanta falcon’s hat when he chose to leave his team before the end of his only (losing) season at atlanta. great character guy. arkansas should be proud. nothing says winning like “petty”….
This link gives a better “well rounded” summary of this story. It is a little sad that the objectional view came from a national writer and not our local reporter (who changed the heading of this article to generate hits, while not mentioning the underlying curcumstances around the reasons she was fired).
http://cfn.scout.com/2/993319.html
cut,paste, enjoy!
Another “What would have happened is she were wearing a Falcon’s Cap?” comment. Played out, unoriginal, and three years ago. Go troll somewhere else. I wonder what would have happened if she had accurately quoted a player disparaging the football incarnate of Jesus…oh wait, that you YOUR crybaby coach. I guess he was having his chest pains from his indigestion that day.
Here’s another link for those that question Coach Petrino’s character and the events around his departure from ATL to NWA.
http://www.hogdb.com/2010/01/16/petrino-ua-falcons-renege/
Wee little minds think in wee little ways! If she had went topless would he have noticed the cap she had on? Probably. What a loser! You can have him!
You Gainesville Gaytards and Atlanta Blackbirds are hysterical, not to mention the other folks going after Bobby Petrino, for something that remotely even concerned him.
Watch the footage. In my opinion, Petrino answered the Floridian dimwit’s question and then very politely told her that he would not respond to another inquiry while she wore “that hat.” As other readers have suggested, there were seemingly all kinds of reasons Gork was fired, the last of which involved her selected headgear.
As to Arkansas and hillbillies, give it, dudes. I have lived all over the country for most of my life. There are more poorly educated or just plain stupid “bubbas” in Alabama, Florida and Georgia than you will ever find in Arkansas – hehe, many of whom would likely [and proudly] call themselves a “Marlboro Man”.
I heard today that 35,000 kids applied to enter Florida a Freshmen, they except only 4,500. Is that true and how does that compare to Arkansas?
I think I saw a statistic that said 3 out of the 5,000,000,000 Dugger kids applied and all were accepted.
Um…all comments aside, no matter what school you go to or what part of the country you live in, you don’t wear a piece of clothing with a rival’s mascot (read IN THE SAME CONFERENCE) to an official event! That equates about to wearing a bloody steak at a shark convention. SHE WAS ASKING FOR ATTENTION!!! Even if she “grabbed the wrong hat,” she should have been smart or aware enough to take the cap off.
Run Renee, run!
Brandon,
Check out this article. I enjoyed the comments at the bottom!

Go Hogs!!!
Kenneth:
While you may be correct that Arkansas is an “at-will” state, that does not necessarily mean that Gork’s termination was not illegal. Perhaps you are privvy to more facts about her case than the rest of this board; however, if she was employed pursuant to an employment agreement or is a member of a labor union that has entered into some type of collective bargaining agreement with the employer, the actions of Gork’s employer may very well have been illegal regardless of Arkansas “at-will” status. Moreover, “at-will” does not protect her employer from liability if their actions violated federal and/or state law (e.g., discrimination, etc.) Without more facts, it is impossible to offer an opinion one way or the other. Unfortunately, absent a personal employment or collective bargaining agreement or a violation of law, the employer probably can fire her for any reason or no reason at all. But in this economy, firing someone for wearing the “wrong” hat seems excessive. Just my two cents.
OK. Trollers, have fun continuing your miserable existence trying to compensate for your lackluster lives by running down people you don’t know. It’s funny, many of you come on here and talk about the irrationality and hatred of Hog fans by making backhanded insults about the Duggers and clinging to outdated Arkansan stereotypes. So tell me, how are YOU any different than the stereotypes you are perpetuating about Arkansas fans and people? You also make baseless accusations about Petrino’s role in this young lady’s firing and use it as a Springboard to continue an assault on him that began when he left the Falcons. Again, it’s funny how your kind said he would leave Arkansas after a year, but he stayed. Then you said he’d leave after his second year, but he’s still here. The more you trolls keep making one lined, uninformed, slanderous comments, the more you reveal yourselves to be WORSE than the people you are criticizing. And with that, I will move back to posting on relevant football matters.
As an alumnus of the University of Arkansas prior to Graduate study at Vanderbilt, I think that I am somewhat qualified to at least make a comment. Having spent my entire life in Arkansas before the age of 22 and leaving for Vanderbilt, my personal feeling is one of having “escaped”. Residency and doctoral pracice have further taken me to Boston and then to Charlotte. Arkansas is definitely unique… much like the land that time forgot. There is a reason that Presidential-candidate Bill Clinton’s claim to fame concerning Educational Reform in Arkansas was the meteoric rise from 50th place to 49th place among the States in overall in the Education Level for grades K-12 during his time as Governor. The fact that he was dead serious only further serves to validate that this is truly a State which has somehow sadly ceased to evolve for at least 100 years (and I am being kind in my estimate). Perhaps generations of in-breeding have indeed caused certain genetic mutations to become the norm. Regardless of the root cause, there is a definite reason why the rest of the country rightfully regards the population of Arkansas to be described as “backwoods”, “hillbillies”, etc. Those intelligent enough to leave… do so and never look back. There is a great big world out there… a world that has evolved, where people use complete sentences which are gramatically correct, where people marry non-relatives, where people graduate from high school, and where people have lives whose purpose and meaning are defined by more than the Razorbacks.
As a well educated and relatively successful lawyer, originally from Arkansas and having an opportunity to live all over the country for the past 30 some odd years, I must respectfully disagree, Dr. Anthony. However, I would surmise, unequivocally, that your “escape” from the state of Arkansas was also a blessing for many of those you left behind.
In addition, it would seem to me that folks like you, perhaps intentionally, yet unfairly, promote and categorize a certain stereotype of people far removed from any degree of reality in this day and time.
You seem very impressed with your own education, which ironically, began with a degree from the University of Arkansas. Regardless, the degrees hanging from one’s wall do not define the person.
The people of the state of Arkansas are passionate about the Razorbacks – though, the people and state have much more to offer.
Dr. Anthony, you reveal your own prejudice and ignorance with your post. Just because you move away certainly doesn’t mean you evolve, and your narrow-minded, stereotypical post proves that point. Are those sentences grammatical enough for you?
And I suppose your time in Boston was an “enlightened” experience. Tell me, did you spend your time with Boston fans who make signs that say “Gay-Rod” when the Yankees come to town? Or the Boston area that elected a Republican senatorial candidate basically because the Democratic candidate admitted to hating the Red Sox, which set the Health Care Bill back three months? Or the Boston area that called a police escort to usher a BACKUP CATCHER to Fenway Park in time to catch a game against the Yankees? I do not say these things to disparage Boston, but to emphasize that bigotry, ignorance, and misplaced priorities exist wherever you go, and no place exists where the people are completely void of common sense and reasoning. For all the vast education you have found for yourself looking elsewhere, you seem to harbor a particularly irrational hatred and intolerance for a collection of people while expecting them to adhere to YOUR code of standards and conduct. And if the state isn’t educated enough for you, I suggest you give your degree back to the U of A. And for someone who calls the State of Arkansas to the carpet for failing to make “grammatically correct” sentences, you have a few in your post that meet the standard–just saying. All that said, I feel sorry for you. You should come to terms with your past because it has led to you make comments that are less than enlightened. I also have the feeling that no one here misses you.
Well said, dwp007, I would have remained silent had I seen your post.
I enjoyed reading your post as well, skezell. Well said.
noone should be fired over showing respect and fondness for thier schools team. the term fan stands for fanatic and dont think oklahoma fans are going to remove our OU gear just because we are in someone elses house we are true fanatics.

I understand that there are exceptions to what I was talking about. That’s why I said other than race religion or sex. That being said, I can’t see how being fired over something like this, (let’s say that the only reason is the hat.. for arguments sake) could be pegged as being discriminatory. Thanks for your input tho, I haven’t heard whether or not she is a member of a union. I did know that union agreements create exceptions for the at-will status of the state.
Happy commenting!
I want for everyone who has a job to go to your FB and/or Twitter page and say how much it sucks and that you wish you were working for their competitor. See what happens.
She posted this on her FB and Twitter accounts. She made fun of the Razorbacks, asked people to re-watch the Florida Arkansas game, said it was really hard work having to cover the Razorbacks instead of the Gators, was told repeatedly to take the hat off (even by players). Petrino was there to defend his players and did so very professionally in my opinion. Why should he allow someone to cause stress to his players. She thought it would be funny to rib everyone a bit with the Florida hat and it back fired. Then her public networking sites provided the fans a reason to get mad. It’s reported that she also violated rules/policy that cell phones/texting is not allowed at practice.
So, who has it in them to try the negative Tweets/Status updates about their job? Not me.
She derserve what was given to her!! you don’t wear a AT&T uniform while working at T-Mobile. or Burger King while at McDs. or playstation while working on an XBox console!! catch my drift!! she deserve it!!
What an airhead! She deserved to be fired.
You people are idiots!
Hey Razorbacks – man up! It’s just a hat.
Go Bucks the rest Suck!!!!! O-H-
With all the crap that goes on in the world and you think that firing someone for this is justified ? Thanks for giving Redneck a bad name. Get a life.
Sorry Renee
“Redneck” has always had a bad name, in my opinion, SC. Typically, the only ones not realizing this, are themselves, rednecks. Rather than instructing some people to “get a life” and casting about your senseless banter, why not take some time and truly inform yourself of what really went on well before Gork’s termination of employment. Essentially, it would seem that she got exactly what she wanted.
I would suspect that you, my friend, are indeed a “redneck” living in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas or many other places “in the world” coming immediately to mind.
In any event, thanks for dropping in with your outstanding sense of enlightened wisdom.
too bad oregon state doesn’t play south carolina every year.
i wonder if a reporter hired to cover gator football and wearing a razorbacks cap would have gotten the same treatment? i mean if your hired to cover a team and its your job to provide positive news on a team is it wise to wear an opponents cap to the teams news confrence. from what i understand it wasnt petrino that fired her it was the radio station that hired her. she hated her job so it was probally best it ended this way. dont bite the hand that feeds ya.
This would be the proper weblog for everybody who wishes to look at this subject. You recognize a great deal its almost challenging to argue with you (not too I actually would want…HaHa). You actually put the latest spin on a subject thats been written about for decades. Fantastic stuff, just exceptional!
