Arkansas cornerback Seth Arumbrust will miss the remainder of the 2010 season with what the University of Arkansas says is a left knee injury suffered Saturday against Tennessee Tech. A source with knowledge of the injury confirmed Armbrust suffered a torn ACL.
Armbrust, a fifth-year senior, was seldom used on defense but was a major contributor on the Razorbacks’ special teams unit. Last season he blocked a punt against Eastern Michigan and returned it for a touchdown and he was the lead blocker for Dennis Johnson on kickoff returns. He walked on at Arkansas after transferring from the Air Force Academy in 2008, but earned a scholarship prior to this season. Last year he was a finalist for the Rudy Award.
“Seth is one of the hardest-working players on our team,” Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino said in a release Tuesday. “He started his career here as a walk-on and earned a scholarship by the way he approaches every day. It is unfortunate to see him injured; however, I’m certain he will take a similar approach to his recovery.”

will he have another year to pl;ay?
In all honestly, I don’t know if he will be eligible because he is a 5th year senior. Five years is a long time to be in school but I think if he wants to stay another year, the NCAA should give him another year. He sounds like a nice kid, he has bounced around a little but I don’t see anything wrong with taking a step back to get moving forward again. I just hope the NCAA doesn’t hold it against him.
The NCAA opened a can of worms when they “GAVE” Masoli another year because it was obvious that he and Nutt were just working the system. Maybe Armburst should get arrested for being an undocumented pharmacist or unsolicited household mover. Then all he would need to do is start work on a post graduate degree in astrobiology or Antartic American studies. If he did something like that, he would be a lock for another year.
I wonder if after 1 year in the Acadamy, does he have an Air Force commitment to fill? Is he in ROTC at Fayetteville? Does the torn ACL have any affect on a possible Air Force career? He might have plans beyond the football field. Whatever his plans are, he sounds like a very determined young man and that is what gets you past an ACL injury.
