Football Center Drawings Released

January 19, 2011 |  by Matt Jones

FAYETTEVILLE - New renderings of Arkansas’ proposed football operations center were released Wednesday, giving a further glimpse of what the estimated $35 million project will look like.

The six new photos, released on the Razorbacks official website and linked below, center around the interior of the proposed 80,000-square foot facility.

No start date has been given for the facility, though Arkansas athletics director Jeff Long said in October he hoped to begin some time in 2011. The estimated construction time for the project is 18 months.

The new facility would include new coaches offices, locker rooms, team meeting rooms, training rooms, equipment rooms, lounges, a study area and football museum. As part of the project, new elevated outdoor practice fields would be built over the top of Lot 67, south of the Walker Pavilion where George Cole Field was once located.

By choosing to build the proposed facility on the south side of the football stadium, Long said it leaves the possibility to expand seating on the north side, though no plans were given to do so.

The Donald W. Reynolds Foundation donated $10 million to the project in October. Long said another $2 million had been given in private donations at the time and all costs for the proposed facility would be raised through donations.

  2. Awesome!!!!

  3. jt you had me crackin up looking through these pics

  4. Not to get to fru-fru, but the red/black color scheme goes well together and seems like it would be a pretty comfortable place to spend a lot of time in. Could you imagine having to spend hours at Tennessee’s facility with their god awful orange. That would be a migrane waiting to happen.

  5. LA, maybe we should paint the visitor locker room orange then? j/k

  6. @LA – Just to clarify….Florida wears orange, Auburn wears burnt orange. I’m not really sure what that is that Tennessee wears, but the helmets NEVER match the jerseys and the best I can describe it is puke yellow!

  7. Hell of place. Will help in recruiting as well.

  8. @Tony,
UF, AUbbie, Clemson and ‘Cuse all share their lame, sickly “orange”. Tennessee is BIG ORANGE. And if you and LA were real hog fans you would know that UofA’s official color is not RED but in fact CARDINAL, which by the way was their original mascot as well.

  9. Pretty Nice! Now if you only had some trophies to put in there!

  10. Tennessee orange is the best orange. If you aren’t a Tennessee fan, you may loathe it, but only because it brings back memories of being dominated. (Not recent memories, mind you lol)

Anyway, this training center is pretty cute. Not bad for Arkansas anyway. This is what the big boys will be playing with though:
