FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas and Texas will play a football game at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in 2021, the UA announced Thursday.
The game is a return from the Razorbacks’ trip to Austin in 2008. The two teams were supposed to play in Fayetteville in 2009, but was initially pushed back to 2014 when Arkansas agreed to a multi-year nonconference match-up against Texas A&M at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Arkansas and Texas A&M will begin playing as a conference opponents next season after the Aggies were added to the SEC in September.
The Razorbacks and Longhorns last played in Fayetteville in 2004, a game Texas won 22-20.
The two former Southwest Conference rivals have met four times since Arkansas left for the Southeastern Conference following the 1991 season, with each team winning twice.
Arkansas is also believed to have a future nonconference series scheduled with TCU.

This is how far Texass has fallen and it is hawg good. They have in essence assured themselves of not having to play during prime Petrino era.
Good news it that we do not need them. 9 SEC games. We get one legit out of conference game and two cup cakes with fillings (Not New Mexico) to start the season. Try to move Bama game out one more week.
I agree Hog Authority, I would like to see us play Bama more like mid to late season instead of 1st or 2nd confrence game year in year out.
I’d like to see the program get to the point where Bama does not have enough time to prepare for the Hawgs, and they want to push the game back……its coming !

I going to got out on limb. But if Hogs had played Penn State and not Missouri State or New Mexico; and had Bama at home this year while Bama only played Troy, New Mexico & Missouri State before Hogs; Bama would have looked as if they were not ready.
My point is they could play 1st game of the season and be about equal or ready. It is just that are cup cakes are early and most of Bama’s are later in season. Don’t forget back got 21 points on miscues. We were just not ready. I think we can put up 28 on Bama or LSU right now and I do not believe any of them have the air power to spread our defense to put up more than 24 on us.
By 2021 Arkansas and TU could by in the same conference. By then every legitimate team will have their own network. By then these will be considered professional teams because the players will legally get paid to play. By then the BCS will be gone and a playoff system will be in place. Lastly, the score: TU 20 Arkansas 21.

Gonna be good to see the Hogs & Horns going at it again. Great rivalry in the old days. Just a long wait till 2021.

It was Arkansas who cancelled game in 2009…. So I wouldn’t say much. Just hopefully hogs won’t play the horns in Little Rock since hogs have never won there…

LondonHawg is right,wish we could put the Alabama game further on down,say October or November,about that time of the year if the Hogs have anything at all they start to jell.
Sadly I fear we are never going to have success if we continue to play teams like Upper Tumwater State instead of quality programs before going into their 1st full speed game against Alabama. I am not saying that we should schedule monster games but there is no doubt that Bama playing Pedifile State gave them a leg up on the hogs this year. With the players and coaches Arkansas has assembled, it might be fun going into South Bend and announcing our presence with authority.
In regards to the University of Texas, I think they are going to learn that the Longhorn Network was the biggest mistake they ever made. It is the main reason for A&M leaving the Big 12 and with the aggies now part of the SEC, they won’t be playing second fiddle to UT for recruits. Which conference would a recruit rather play in the SEC or the Big 12? Texas’ only other option would be to join the PAC 12 and the time difference hurts TV coverage and the greater distance would hurt recruiting.

hogjim, what a difference a week makes. I was shocked that Paterno didn’t make a statement calling for the riot to stop the other night. I think I echo the sentiments of many Razorback fans when I say that HDN is not my favorite figure but I have to say: he is handling his situation in Oxford a thousand times better than JoePa is at PSU. Never saw that one coming! Almost like Woody Hayes!
@Btread and ua87, don’t forget 1991, the last time Texas and Arkansas met in conference play…The hogs won 14-13 @ War Memorial. One of the few great wins of the Jack Crowe era. I too wish the Hogs could play the horns every year. Feels good getting to show off my hog stuff around the scared horn fans in Texarkana. Their team sucks and they know it.
