FAYETTEVILLE - Arkansas has been picked to win the Southeastern Conference’s western division in the upcoming baseball season by league coaches.
The Razorbacks, ranked No. 4 in the preseason, received nine of 11 possible first-place votes in the poll and finished just ahead of LSU. Arkansas is the defending division champion.
Two-time defending league champion and preseason No. 1 Florida was the unanimous pick to win the SEC’s eastern division and the overall league championship. Two-time defending national champion and preseason No. 3 South Carolina was picked to finish second in the SEC East.
Arkansas will begin the 2012 season on Friday with the first of a three-game series against Villanova at Baum Stadium.
